Happy Labor Day! Summer is coming to an end. Time to get all those last boating moments on the lake! The HLCA has been busy. Lots of updates to share.

Updates on subsequent activities and the Public Meeting held on October 5th, 2023, 6 PM CST at Monroe’s Crossing.

The Hudson Lake Drain was serviced and fully closed on Tuesday September 20, 2022. The drain has remained closed ever since.

DROUGHT BRIEFING: DROUGHT EXPANDING AND WORSENING ACROSS ILLINOIS AND INDIANA

The LaPorte County Regional Sewer & Water District Board of Trustees has scheduled their monthly meetings to be located at the following location: County Complex Building, Room #3, 809 State Street, LaPorte, IN, 46350.

Based on feedback, the meeting was a success! We had over 80 people in attendance! Thanks to those who signed in and thank you to those who volunteered for projects - stay tuned

We recently came across this article and share it here. We shared this with the Indiana DNR to keep them informed as well. We want to be vigilant in considerations of sharing aquifers with businesses around Hudson Lake. It is exciting news to bring economic expansion to the area and even better that we were able to determine that the new plant will be using utilities out of South Bend, including their water needs.

[Hudson Lake, June 9, 2023] – The Hudson Lake Conservation Association (HLCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Kevin Smith as the new President of the organization (www.hudsonlakeindiana.com). Additionally, the HLCA welcomes Ms. Georgette Joyce as a new board member at large. With their extensive experience and passion for environmental conservation, Mr. Smith and Ms. Joyce are poised to lead the association into a new era of sustainable practices and increased community engagement.

Hopefully, you all received our drain update - all cleaned, serviced, and completely closed! The ditch is dry.

With regard to the drain, there is still much to do.

There was great concern expressed by the community over the past few months that the valve was not closed fully. The ditch had a steady flow of water. The consensus was that the valve was not fully closed - possibly clogged by debris preventing the closure. Others felt that the 40 plus year old structure was somehow compromised, thus causing the water flow into the ditch.
